SIMOS 8.6 requires unlocking in BSL mode by the appropriate module.  BSL is usually boot mode for unlock. Same as PCR2.1.

How to work with blocks that require unlocking (PCR2.1, SIMOS8.6):

1) Check the current lock status in the car, if the check is disabled, you can go to read-write, otherwise follow the instructions
2) Remove the unit from the car, open it, transfer the processor to BSL mode using the connection below (PCR2.1, SIMOS8.6), the work as a whole as in the package 53 (you can use tools like powerbox, and you can do without them)

3) Choose “SIMOS8.6 (EEPROM/UNLOCK/BSL) or PCR2.1 (EEPROM/UNLOCK/BSL)” depending of ECU type
4) Click Identification – save ECU data somewhere in a text file.
5) Click Read – save the EEPROM

Little precision I tried to read an edc17c42 with fetrotech tool following the pinout of the fetrotech support impossible to read. I opened pcmtuner and noticed there was a pinout error on can H can L. I followed this hook-up and I retried with fetrotech he read it quickly. Here’s a little precision. network can it goes to the first connector in A3 A4

V1.27 PCMTuner with Fetrotech Tool Silver Color Version performs the same function as Fetrotech Tool Black Standalone Version. The difference is that the silver version requires an adapter to connect with PCMTuner, while black version can be used alone. Both of them support MED9 series (VAG_MED9.1.2, VAG_MED9.1, VAG_MED9.5.10 and VOLVO_ME9.0) ECU flash and EEPROM on bench without opening the cover. Here is the test on Audi MED9 ECU. Before operation, make sure you have downloaded and installed Fetrotech tool software correctly. If you failed to install, please check the posts below to solve.

Step-by-step guide:

First, plug the connector (comes with Fetrotech Tool Silver version package) into one side of the Fetrotech Tool Silver, and then connect the other side to the PCMTuner ECU programmer

Next, connect the colored jumper to Fetrotech, and connect the other end of the colored jumper to ECU

After that, connect the USB cable to Fetrotech tool and computer

Finally, plug the power adapter to Fetrotech tool, and then the power light is on.

Turn on the computer, and the USB light is on, start to test.

Run Fetrotech Tool software

Select VAG MED9 ECU-V1.0.1.10
